Workshops

Two or three hours that put you back in the room.

A workshop is one evening or one afternoon built around a handful of the nine elements. You arrive, you are fed, you make something with your hands, you move, you talk to people you did not know when you walked in.

There is nothing to prepare and nothing to be good at. The whole design assumes you are arriving tired, a little unsure, and possibly on your own — because most people are.

What Happens

How an evening runs.

Every workshop is different, but the shape holds. Nobody is put on the spot, and you can pass at any point.

  1. You arrive

Doors open before we start. Someone greets you by name, you get something warm to drink, and you have time to stand around before anything is asked of you.

  2. We share a table

Food comes first, because it is the fastest way a room of strangers stops being a room of strangers. You do not need to bring anything.

  3. We make something

Hands busy, talk easy. The craft changes each time and no skill is assumed — the point is what happens while you are making, not what you take home.

  4. We move

Twenty minutes of something physical, scaled to whoever is in the room. Standing, sitting, or slower is always an option.

  5. We close the circle

A short reflection together, then it ends on time. Some people leave straight away, some stay and talk for another hour. Both are normal.

Before You Come

Nothing to prepare.

What is included

  • Food and something warm to drink
  • All materials for whatever we are making
  • A facilitator holding the room start to finish
  • A seat whether you come alone or with people

What to bring

  • Clothes you can move in
  • A water bottle if you like having one
  • Nothing else — really

Suggested donation is $20. Nobody is excluded for inability to pay.

Pay what you can at the door, or nothing at all. You will not be asked to explain, and nobody in the room will know either way.

Questions

The things people ask first.

Do I need any experience?

None. Not with wellness work, not with the craft, not with groups. Most people in the room are there for the first time.

Do I have to share anything personal?

No. You can pass on any invitation to speak and stay for the whole thing. Listening is full participation.

Can I come by myself?

Most people do. Arriving alone is the ordinary case here, not the exception, and the opening is built around making that easy.

Is this therapy, or religious?

Neither. The 9 is an experiential wellness and community-building experience. It is not a treatment programme and it is not tied to any faith.

What if I need to leave early?

Leave whenever you need to. You will not be asked why, and it does not disrupt anything.
